What to do if your iPhone got wet

Panic is the most common mistake after water damage. Here's what to actually do, in the right order.

Do this immediately

Turn the phone off immediately if it is still on. Don't try turning it back on to check whether it works. Gently dry off the outside, take off the case and place the phone on a dry towel. Remove the SIM card if possible. This can protect the card from damage and also make it easier for moisture to escape.

Avoid doing this

Don't use a hair dryer, heater or any other heat source. Heat can push moisture further into the phone and damage sensitive components. We also don't recommend putting the phone in rice. Rice removes very little moisture and can leave dust and small particles in the charging port and other openings. Don't connect the phone to a charger until it is completely dry and the charging port has been checked.

The sooner the phone is examined, the better

Corrosion can begin within just a few hours. The longer moisture stays inside the phone, the greater the risk of permanent damage. We carry out professional cleaning and repair of devices with liquid damage, including micro-soldering where necessary. The chances of saving the phone and its contents are significantly better if it is brought in as quickly as possible.
