Is it worth repairing an old iPhone?

It's a completely fair question to ask before booking a repair. Here's how we'd recommend weighing it up.

Compare the repair cost to the resale value

Rule of thumb: if the repair costs less than half of what the phone is worth used in good condition, it's usually worth repairing. Check our price list for the exact cost for your model and repair — most screen and battery replacements cost well under what a comparable used phone sells for.

Performance and battery life matter more than age

An iPhone with a new battery and screen can work great for several more years, especially if it otherwise handles daily use fine — email, messaging, camera and most apps. What actually makes an older phone annoying to use is almost always poor battery life or a damaged screen, not the age itself.

When doesn't it pay off?

If several things are broken at once (say, screen, battery and water damage), or the phone no longer gets updates you need, the total cost can approach the price of a newer used model. We'll always give you an honest assessment before you decide.
